MY ALAGILLE SYNDROME QUALIFIED ME TO MAKE-A-WISH

Because I was a Make-A-Wish recipient, I wanted to try and raise money for Make-A-Wish. I say “try” because 1) I’ve never done this before 2) I wasn’t sure how this would go or if anyone would donate ro my cause and 3) I thought about putting $50 as my fundraising goal. But in the end I put $100 as my goal. Then, I shared it on social media.

(the lil’ sis and I)

Hey frens and fam, This month I’m doing something I’ve never done before… I can’t run or jog because of my damaged left hip, but I can walk, and since I am still able to walk, I’ve decided to take on this 30km challenge for sick children.  But before I start walking, I’d like to share a short story with you…

10 years ago, I was a Wish Child. I wished to go to Disneyland and Make-A-Wish Australia (MAWA) granted it! MAWA flew my family and I to California. We were greeted with a stretched limousine. Our hotel (Paradise Pier) was walking distance to the two Disneyland theme parks (at Downtown Disney District). At Disneyland, I was given the VIP pass which gave my family and I the VIP treatment – we cut through looong waiting lines! MAWA also gave us tickets to Universal Studios and Knott’s Berry Farm… This once-in-a-lifetime experience lasted 10 days, and for 10 days, I had the time of my life! It was as if I was in a world where I wasn’t a sick child and a full-time patient. For a little while, I was distracted from my reality (sick girl living with multiple chronic conditions), thanks to MAWA!

MAWA made an incredible impact in my life, so today, I’d like to make an important invitation…

“MAWA creates life-changing wishes to children living with critical illnesses… A wish is an integral part of a sick child’s treatment” and I’d like to invite you to be a part of this child-centred cause. Every dollar raised will help grant unforgettable wishes for children living with life-threatening illnesses. While I walk, will you help me make more wishes come true by donating here. ⬇️

Oh my goodness! I raised a grand total of $874! What?! My mind is just blown away right now. Cannot believe it. From thinking of wanting to put my fundraising goal at $50 to looking at the total amount of money I’ve raised for Make-A-Wish, which is WAY more money than I expected. I’m SO thankful to ALL my supporters who believed in my cause and donated to it. Ya’ll are superstars to me and to the sick children who will benefit from your generosity.

Thank you!
