Encourage the Patien to Get Better

The goal is to get the patient better as quickly as possible. Of course, this means physically, so when you’re with the patient you want to encourage them to eat or participate in physiotherapy or go for a walk or anything that will help the patient improve physically.

Also, a very vital thing you may want to consider is encouraging the patient to open up about their emotions and feelings towards their condition/diagnosis. This is to see how the patient is really doing mentally. Ask about their faith or how is their relationship with God at the moment. Here, we are finding out how the patient is, spiritually. When asking these deep and personal questions, note that if the patient chooses not to open up, that’s totally okay – don’t force them to open up. They will open up to you if or when they’re ready.
